The proposed rate is half-way between the Gold Coast and Kenya figures. The entertainment allowance will bring up the local- ly drawn emoluments to their present leval, which is considered the minimum consonant with the officer's duties and position.

Note. The present rate is £1,500-A£50-1,800; the proposed rate is taken from Nigeria. A precedent for paying a Treasurer who is in charge of Currency more than other Departmental Heads is to be found in the Straits Settlements.
